Josh Beckett didn't come out to talk to the media, only saying, through media relations director John Blake, "We'll just have to wait and see how it feels tomorrow."
Beckett will possibly undergo more testing tomorrow, when he's re-evaluated by the medical staff. For now, the team isn't sure if he'll make his next start, nor is it clear the severity of the injury to his back.
The pitcher sustained the injury when he made his first warm-up toss from the mound before his scheduled start this afternoon. His foot apparently slipped on some mound dirt that gave way. He threw five more pitches before getting Jason Varitek, who alerted manager Terry Francona and the training staff.
