Pedro Martinez was in D.C. yesterday for the unveiling of his likeness at the National Portrait Gallery. The painting by Cambridge artist Susan Miller-Havens moved the former Sox ace to tears. (He was consoled by his mom, Leopoldina Martinez, and his wife, Carolina Cruz Martinez.) Titled “El Orgullo y la Determinación (Pride and Determination),’’ the picture was purchased a few years ago by former Globe scribe Peter Gammons and wife Gloria Trowbridge Gammons.
