Tim Wakefield warmed up for the sixth inning of yesterday’s doubleheader opener, but he didn’t get to throw another pitch. Instead, Red Sox manager Terry Francona came out to remove his starting pitcher, prompting an ovation from a crowd appreciative of what the knuckleballer has done in a difficult season for him.
