Red Sox super sub Darnell McDonald bats right, throws right, and listens to just about everything. A big music fan, McDonald is rarely without his iPhone, which has more than 2,500 songs, from R&B to rap to reggae. “I listen on the plane, when I’m working out, pre-game, you name it,’’ says the outfielder. “I got a little something for everybody on here.’’ McDonald doesn’t play an instrument, but a few of his teammates groove on the guitar, and he’s thinking he might take it up, too. “Buchholz, Bard, and Beckett all play a little,’’ he says. “I’m gonna learn in the offseason.’’ In the meantime, here’s a few tunes McDonald will be listening to on his iPhone.

1. “When Doves Cry,’’ Prince

2. “Roots, Rock, Reggae,’’ Bob Marley

3. “A Star Is Born,’’ Jay-Z

4. “Drop the World,’’ Lil Wayne (featuring Eminem)

5. “Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik,’’ Outkast

6. “Like I Do,’’ R. Kelly

7. “Sexy Love,’’ Ne-Yo

8. “Hustlin’ (Remix),’’ Rick Ross

9. “Lost Without You,’’ Robin Thicke

10. “What You Know,’’ T.I.

Bonus tracks: If you’re looking for country music, McDonald says you’re mostly out of luck, though he does have a couple of Tim McGraw tunes. Other surprises? Darnell digs Phil Collins — “I gotta have ‘In the Air Tonight’ ’’ — and the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
