Werner says big deal still possible
COOPERSTOWN, N.Y. - Red Sox chairman Tom Werner , in town for Jim Rice’s induction, said yesterday that general manager Theo Epstein is “burning the midnight oil’’ trying to make an impact deal before Friday’s trade deadline. It appears the Sox are still in the hunt for Blue Jays ace Roy Halladay and Indians catcher-first baseman Victor Martinez . (Full article: 838 words)
