General manager Theo Epstein is still in his basement office on Yawkey Way running things as he did in 2004, but he has many new faces on his support staff.

Mike Port, vice president of baseball operations (now Major League Baseball's vice president of umpiring)

Josh Byrnes, assistant general manager (now Diamondbacks GM)

Peter Woodfork, director of baseball operations (now Diamondbacks assistant GM)

Bill Lajoie, special assistant to the GM (now senior adviser to Dodgers GM)

David Chadd, scouting director (now Tigers vice president of amateur scouting)

Tom Moore, assistant director of pro and international scouting (now Tigers assistant director of pro and international scouting)

Ben Cherington, vice president player personnel (was director of player development, and co-GM during Epstein's brief departure during the winter of 2005).

Jed Hoyer, assistant general manager (was also co-GM during Epstein's brief departure).

Allard Baird, director of professional scouting/assistant to the GM (was Royals GM)

Craig Shipley, vice president/international scouting (was special assistant to the GM/player development and international scouting)
