Former major league catcher Brad Ausmus has interviewed for the Tigers’ manager’s job. Detroit general manager Dave Dombrowski confirmed that Ausmus interviewed on Monday. The Tigers need a new manager after Jim Leyland stepped down following the team’s loss to the Red Sox in the AL championship series. Ausmus works in the Padres front office as a special assistant to the GM and has also managed Israel’s team for the World Baseball Classic. Ausmus had an 18-year career in the majors and played for the Tigers for part of the 1996 season, and again from 1999-2000 .
In other news: The Indiana Pacers announced Danny Granger will miss three weeks with a left calf strain. Granger missed all but five games last season with a tendon injury in his left knee.
