Chipper Jones, starting his final regular-season home series before retirement, was 0 for 4 with four groundouts.

Cleveland had 16 hits, including a string of five straight with one out to score three runs off Will Smith (6-9) in the second inning.

Pittsburgh (76-81) made its own bit of history as it was assured of a 20th consecutive non-winning season with the loss.

The Astros’ win helped them avoid matching their franchise-worst loss total set last season (56-106). It was their first victory since Bo Porter was named as the 17th manager in franchise history on Thursday.
