While not a local athlete, the greatest charitable giving to local organizations by a sports figure recently has come from Texas-based cyclist Lance Armstrong. In the last two years, his foundation awarded $759,243 to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, $150,000 to Children's Hospital, $50,000 to Brigham and Women's, and $46,133 to Boston Medical Center.
