Last-minute TD stops Maine

Black Bears fall to James Madison

Justin Rascati completed 19 of 28 passes for 197 yards and two touchdowns, including a game-winning 23-yarder to D.D. Boxley with 47 seconds remaining, as James Madison stayed undefeated in the Atlantic 10 with a 24-20 victory over Maine at Orono yesterday.

Rascati also rushed for 60 yards and a 7-yard fourth-quarter touchdown that pulled the Dukes (5-1, 4-0) to within striking distance at 20-17.

The Black Bears (3-3, 1-2) had grabbed the lead with two third-quarter touchdowns after trailing, 10-6, at halftime.

Marcus Williams rushed for 138 of his 166 yards in the second half and his touchdown at 8:23 of the third quarter put Maine ahead, 13-10.

William & Mary 31, Rhode Island 24 -- At Williamsburg, Va., Elijah Brooks scored on a 2-yard run to break a 24-24 tie with 8:03 remaining and the Tribe stopped the Rams on downs on their last two possessions, preserving William & Mary's victory. Lang Campbell threw two touchdown passes and ran for another score for William & Mary (5-1, 3-0), which won despite being outgained, 409 yards to 289. Campbell's scoring passes both covered 3 yards to Matt Trinkle in the opening quarter.

Rhode Island (3-3, 1-2) drove to the Tribe's 26 with 4:19 left before being stopped on fourth down. The Rams got the ball back on their 26 with 2:12 left, but gained just 6 yards in six plays and the Tribe ran out the final 1:11.

Delaware 20, Hofstra 19 -- Joe Bleymaier caught a 6-yard touchdown pass on fourth and goal with 6:09 left to help the Blue Hens (5-1, 4-0) overcome a 12-point fourth-quarter deficit at Hempstead, N.Y., to remain undefeated in the Atlantic 10 Sonny Riccio completed 18 of 34 passes for 166 yards and a touchdown with two interceptions for Delaware, which has won five straight games. Villanova 49, Richmond 10 -- Marvin Burroughs threw for 260 yards and tied his career high with five touchdown passes, leading the Wildcats (4-3, 1-3) over the Spiders at Villanova, Pa.Stacy Tutt accounted for more than half of Richmond's 286 total yards, throwing for 155 yards and rushing for 23 yards and a TD. Towson 41, Bowie State 7 -- Matt Brunetti rushed for a career-best 94 yards and two touchdowns and the Tigers (3-3) forced five turnovers in a rout of the Division 2 Bulldogs at Towson, Md.
