Daniel Cullinane wins primary for Boston House seat

Labor consultant Daniel Cullinane beat out two opponents in a special Democratic primary for a Dorchester-based state House seat on Tuesday.

Cullinane, a former aide to Attorney General Martha Coakley, outpaced former State House aide Stephanie Everett and Mary-dith Tuitt, a current State House worker, in a low-turnout election.

The win positions Cullinane as the heavy favorite to succeed Linda Dorcena Forry, who won a hotly-contested special election earlier this year to take over from Jack Hart, who left the state Senate to join the private sector.

Cullinane will face two independent candidates, Lincoln Larmond of Mattapan and Edmond Romulus of Milton, in a Sept. 10 special election in the heavily Democratic district.

While concentrated in Dorchester, the district also includes sections of Mattapan, Hyde Park, and Milton.
