To see the map and explore its many layers, you will need a free plug-in, called Autodesk MapGuide. It will take a few minutes, but needs to be done just once.

Along the city's last frontier, a new Boston takes shape

With the $4 billion harbor cleanup near completion, long-neglected stretches of Boston's waterfront now have vast potential for development.

Political and economic decisions being made today will determine the look of the city's waterfront for decades to come.

A 40-page special section of the Boston Globe explores what lies ahead for Boston Harbor.
