Danish man guilty of 2 murders, 6 rapes
COPENHAGEN, Denmark—A Danish court has found a man guilty of committing two murders and six rapes over a 23-year period thanks to DNA evidence from a 2010 assault.
The Copenhagen City Court on Monday ruled that Marcel Lychau Hansen had strangled 73-year-old Edith Louise Andrup in 1987 and 40-year-old Lene Buchardt Rasmussen three years later.
The court also found him guilty of raping three teenagers and a 23-year-old woman in 1995 and two women in 2005 and 2010, respectively.
Investigators said a condom found near a place where a rape had taken place led them to 46-year-old Luchau Hansen. This allowed police to open a series of older cases where there was a DNA match.
Lychau Hansen claimed he was innocent.
Sentencing was expected Thursday.
