NEVE DEKALIM, Gaza Strip -- Israeli troops carried Jewish settlers, some wailing, writhing, and calling the soldiers traitors, out of their houses yesterday, launching the forced removal of 8,500 settlers from the occupied Gaza Strip in an operation marred more by wrenching emotions than by the clashes that had been feared.
