Former Massachusetts Senator Scott Brown has canceled a trip to Iowa and told a GOP activist that he has his sights set on running for US Senate in New Hampshire, according to reports.

The Boston Globe reports that Brown made the cancellation via text message today.

He texted me his morning by 6 a.m., saying hes going to run for the United States Senate in New Hampshire and wont be able to come to Iowa, said Tracee Knapp, a GOP activist in Ringgold County Iowa, who had invited Brown to speak to a party gathering there on April 3.

The Des Moines Register reports that Brown sent the text just before 6 a.m. this morning.

I guess hes going to start running for U.S. Senate and hes going to be talking about it Saturday morning, said Tracee Knapp.

Brown has been making serious political moves in the Granite State for some time. More recently he has been making staffing moves and reaching out to fellow Republicans.

The Associated Press reported:

The longtime Massachusetts resident, having recently relocated to his seacoast New Hampshire vacation home, spent much of the past two weeks calling key New Hampshire Republican officials and influential GOP activists, indicating that he was likely to run and seeking their support. At the same time, Browns camp has quietly begun offering paid positions to Republican operatives for a prospective New Hampshire campaign.

The stakes on Brown's run are high as the GOP looks to gain a Senate majority this fall.
