Amid turmoil in Washington D.C. regarding government surveillance of communication, Twitter made a move to cement its presence in the discussion in Washington, forming its own political action committee and appointing its first lobbyist. The social media powerhouse established Twitter#PAC to advance its policy goals in the capital, The Washington Post reported.

William Carty, a policy manager for Twitter, will serve as a lobbyist in Washington, with Nu Wexler, a former spokesman for Connecticut Senator Richard Blumenthal, as the policy and political issues spokesman.
