According to Hollywood celebrity site The Wrap, Ben Affleck will be going from Cambridge to Gotham after he reportedly accepted an offer to play the role of Batman.
Affleck has been cast to star opposite of Henry Cavill in an as yet untitled sequel to last year's Superman smash, "The Man of Steel".
The move, which may catch some off-guard, is also a bit ironic considering Affleck in the film "Hollywoodland" played the guy who played Superman.
AP is reporting that the film will open in July of 2015.
Of course no announcement of this magnitude could go without the Twiterverse reacting, and if social media is any indication, some folks aren't too excited at Affleck's prospects of playing the caped crusader.
Man of Steel was one of the worst movies of the summer, and with Ben Affleck as Batman in the sequel the next one will be even worse.— Calvin (@aurosan) August 23, 2013

Affleck, of course, has his coveted golden hardware to lean on to silence the doubters and ramp up the supporters.
