Neil Armstrong died a year ago, and that news surprised plenty of people on Twitter this morning. Around midnight, there were a good number of people posting variations of "RIP Neil Armstrong" with links to this ABC News story about his death. It looks like most of these tweets were made in remembrance of the famous astronaut.
The problem, though, was that when people went to use the Twitter share tool button, the headline generated for sharing was, "Neil Armstrong, First Man on the Moon, is Dead - ABC News." That's the reason so many people are crediting ABC with the breaking news that Armstrong just passed away today. Not everyone on Twitter remembered that Armstrong died one year ago, and the headline from the automatic tweet implied it was new information.
As of this posting, the Twitter share tool is still generating the same headline.
