Golden Corral employee exposes food stored next to a dumpster
Brandon Huber, a cook at a Golden Corral in Port Orange, Fla, posted this video last week showing plenty of food left near the dumpster during an inspection.
Huber wrote in a post with the video that Golden Corral management and the Volusia County Health Department have ignored his complaints about the storage system. He also contacted multiple news outlets before finally posting the video on YouTube himself.
Update: The Golden Corral owners, Metro Corral Partners, have responded to the video with a statement to Consumerist.
"A video was recently posted showing an incident of improper food handling at our Port Orange, Florida location. None of these items were served to a single customer. All were destroyed within the hour at the direction of management… The manager involved in the improper storage was terminated for failing to follow approved food handling procedures.”
Metro Corral Partners is also claiming that, "The following day, the father of the employee posted an offer to sell the video for $5,000, which was not accepted," according to the Consumerist report. They are also claiming that Huber helped dispose of the food.
