A Providence-area television reporter was attacked Tuesday while trying to secure an interview — and the entire incident was captured on camera.

Abbey Niezgoda, an Emerson College graduate and reporter for WLNE-TV (ABC6), was trying to interview the mother of a girl shot over the weekend, after a teenage boy had surrendered to police, station officials said.

Melissa Lawrence, 35, also threw a rock and waved a bat at the crew. She later directed her two pit bulls to attack, and the dog bit Niezgoda on her forearm. The station also said a news photographer was injured when Lawrence threw the rock.

Lawrence was arraigned Wednesday in a Providence court on two felony assault charges, The Providence Journal reported. She was released on $50,000 personal recognizance and is due back in court Aug. 8.

According to the Journal story: "Lawrence, who was handcuffed, wore a pink t-shirt with the message, 'My Attitude is Your Problem.' "
