This summer, fans of Boston's Sam Adams beer will find the touted Boston Lager and Summer Ale in new clothes: Aluminum cans.
Jim Koch, co-founder of the Boston Beer Company, finally broke his purist tendencies and embarked upon a two-year, $1 million quest for the ideal can to optimize the flavor of Sam Adams beers. The result: a can with an hourglass-shaped lip that opens a drinker's mouth and senses to the aroma of the beer.
Still, Koch says, the best way to enjoy Sam Adams beer is in a glass.
Koch has offered to share his can design with other brewers.
