DreamWorks Studios and Participant Media have announced they will create a film based on the story of the Boston Globe's uncovering of a sex-abuse cover-up by the Roman Catholic Church in Massachusetts.

The filmmakers have also acquired the life rights of Globe reporters and editors involved in the Pulitzer Prize-winning series, including former Globe editor Marty Baron, as well as Ben Bradlee Jr., Walter "Robby" Robinson, Michael Rezendes, Sacha Pfeiffer, and Matt Carroll, according to a statement from the studio.

The project will be directed by Boston College graduate Tom McCarthy, whose credits include “The Station Agent.”
