Sunshine expected as Bostonians head to polls Tuesday

Political wisdom says that bad weather can dampen election turnout, as some voters elect to stay home rather than battle the elements.

For Tuesday’s preliminary races for Boston mayor and City Council, they should be able to leave their umbrellas in the closet.

Bostonians will see bright and sunny skies Tuesday, interrupted by only a cloud or two, as they head to the polls, according to the National Weather Service in Taunton. Temperatures will rise to the mid-60s.

“It will be a nice, comfortable, dry day,” said meteorologist Alan Dunham.

Twelve mayoral candidates are sweating it out in the vote to determine which two will advance to the Nov. 5 municipal election.
