BOSTON
More than half of state voters this year have not picked a party, according to data released yesterday by the secretary of state. Of nearly 4.2 million residents registered to vote Nov. 2, 51.6 percent were unenrolled, 36.5 percent identified as Democrats, and 11.3 percent identified as Republicans. The overall number of registered voters declined less than 1 percent, or about 30,000 people, from the presidential election in 2008. The overall number of registered voters increased more than 5 percent from the last midterm election in 2006.
