Two more state legislators are poised to endorse Charlotte Golar Richie in the race for mayor, her campaign announced today.
State Senator Sonia Chang-Diaz and state Represenative Russell Holmes, both Boston Democrats and members of the Massachusetts Black and Latino Caucus, plan to endorse Richie at the State House today.
Richie’s announcement of the pending endorsements came shortly after the caucus’s chairman backed one of her rivals in the race. State Representative Byron Rushing earlier today endorsed City Councilor Felix G. Arroyo for mayor, saying Arroyo is the only candidate in the race addressing issues Rushing has championed, including ending poverty.
Richie, a former state representative, is one of six candidates of color in a field of a dozen candidates hoping to replace Mayor Thomas M. Menino. Her campaign previously announced the endorsements of state Representative Gloria Fox, another member of the black and Latino caucus, and four former state legislators who are black.
Newly elected state Senator Linda Dorcena Forry, a Haitian-American Democrat from Dorchester who worked for Richie in the Menino administration, said she is not going to endorse a candidate in the Tuesday’s preliminary vote.
