WASHINGTON -- The Senate's furious debate over judicial filibusters was reignited yesterday by the nomination of Judge Samuel A. Alito Jr. to the Supreme Court, with Democrats reserving the right to use the tactic to block Alito's confirmation and two key Republicans vowing to support a change to Senate rules that would prevent that move.
