CHANNING, Texas—Texas highway officials say a Colorado state senator was involved in a vehicle collision that killed a pregnant woman from Amarillo.
The Texas Department of Public Safety says state Sen. Suzanne Williams has been released from the hospital after Sunday night's collision.
Trooper Gabriel Medrano says 30-year-old Brianna Michelle Gomez died in the crash, and her baby boy is in critical condition after being delivered via cesarean section.
Medrano says the 65-year-old senator was driving northbound on U.S. 385 in Hartley County when she veered onto southbound traffic and collided with the vehicle in which Gomez was riding.
It was not immediately known whether charges would be filed for the crash.
