ANCHORAGE, Alaska—An Anchorage resident has fatally shot a small black bear after it tried to enter his home.

Police believe it is the same bear an officer used his Taser on a day earlier in an effort to discourage the animal from hanging around homes in the Hillside area.

Lt. Dave Parker says the homeowner reportedly shot the 125-pound bear twice Friday after it scratched around the porch and tried to get inside the house from several angles.

Parker on Thursday used his Taser on what he believes was the same bear, delivering a 30-second burst of 100,000 volts.

Parker tells the Anchorage Daily News: "I guess the electric lesson didn't work on him."
