GEORGIABRUNSWICK - Seven people were slain and two critically injured at a mobile home on a historic plantation in southeastern Georgia, officials said yesterday. The Glynn County police would not say how the victims were killed. Authorities discovered them when responding to a 911 call about 8 a.m. yesterday. The mobile home park is near the center of New Hope Plantation, north of Brunswick.
GOP lawmakers vent over SanfordMYRTLE BEACH - Republican legislators fumed yesterday over Governor Mark Sanford’s affair and questionable travel, but they stopped short of trying to force his resignation or impeachment before they return to the Statehouse in January. Still, the House GOP Caucus that dominates the lower chamber with 73 of the body’s 124 members made two things clear: they want Sanford gone. However, lawmakers said they would wait until the state Ethics Commission finishes its investigation.
Thousands mark Jackson’s birthdayNEW YORK - Thousands of Michael Jackson fans danced to his music in Brooklyn’s Prospect Park yesterday at a celebration hosted by filmmaker Spike Lee. The party was held on what would have been the 51st birthday of the late pop star. Many fans showed up wearing fedoras and T-shirts with Jackson’s image. A few wore white gloves. Lee directed two music videos for Jackson in 1996.
