Cycling firm seeks Vt. expansion in Derby
DERBY, Vt.—A Newport-based cycling apparel and gear manufacturing company is seeking to expand its Vermont operation by building a new $7 million plant in Derby.
Louis Garneau USA is seeking local permits to build a two-story, 60,040-square-foot plant that would include light manufacturing, a warehouse as well as office and retail space.
Derby Zoning Administrator Bob Kelley tells the Caledonian Record ( http://bit.ly/sGSNGw) the plant would be big enough for as many as 120 employees.
In April, the company had 95 full-time employees in Newport, where it is outgrowing its smaller leased plant.
Louis Garneau USA has been in Newport since 1989
The parent company, Louis Garneau Sports, is based near Quebec City. It has 425 employees worldwide with sales in 45 countries.
