SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt.—A Vermont man is in critical condition after being hit by a car in South Burlington.
Police say 38-year-old Jason Groleau of South Burlington was hit just after 6 p.m. Monday on Shelburne Road.
A preliminary investigation determined the crash was caused by "the illegal use of the highway by the pedestrian."
Police say speed and any other outside factors have been ruled out as causes.
Groleau was taken to Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington where he was reported Tuesday to be in critical condition.
