Vermont State Police believe a Springfield resident was shot after a confrontation with several suspects.
According to a statement released late Wednesday night, Vermont State Police said the gubshot victim and two others were taken to area hospitals. The other two patients were not shot but suffered “non-life theatening injuries,” according to police.
“Initial investigations indicate that the subjects involved were known to one another,” wrote police in the statement. “It is believed that a confrontation occurred prior to the shooting near and within the residence at Summer Street in Springfield, VT.”
Two suspects are in custody and Vermont State Police said they are questioning a third person in the case. Charges are “forthcoming,” according to police.
