PROVIDENCE, R.I.—A Providence man has been arrested after authorities say he assaulted a 63-year-old letter carrier.
Federal court records show George Brice was charged Monday with forcibly assaulting a U.S. Postal Service letter carrier.
An affidavit says Brice approached the unidentified letter carrier in Providence, refused to let him pass and complained about mail-delivery service.
During the argument, the affidavit says Brice struck the letter carrier in the chest with closed fists.
Investigators say Brice acknowledged pushing the letter carrier in the chest with two open hands.
A judge released Brice on the condition he pay $5,000 if he misses a court date.
Brice's defense attorney did not immediately return a message Tuesday seeking comment. A telephone number for Brice was disconnected.
