WESTERLY, R.I.—Two drivers have been killed in a head-on collision in Westerly, and police say they believe speed was a factor.
The crash occurred about 6 p.m. Monday at the intersection of Westerly Bradford Road and Pound Road.
Police say the driver of the northbound car, 68-year-old Vincenzo Nigro, of Westerly, was pronounced dead at the scene. His passenger, 73-year-old Francesca Nigro, of Westerly, was seriously injured but has since been released from the hospital.
Police say the driver of the southbound car, 31-year-old Raymond Noury, of Hopkinton, died at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence. An unidentified 7-year-old boy in that car survived, and also has been released from the hospital.
