CRANSTON, R.I.—The state Department of Children, Youth and Families has launched an investigation to find out why a staff member brought her daughter into the Youth Develoment Center for juvenile delinquents.
Kevin Aucoin, the DCYF's acting director, says a woman at the center brought the 16-year-old to work on Sunday, allegedly to talk with someone about the girl's conduct and to show her what it is like to be jailed.
Aucoin told the Providence Journal the visit should not have happened and he will make sure nothing similar happens again.
Aucoin has asked for written reports from everyone involved in the decision to allow the girl inside the facility. He says the teen was not harmed.
