PROVIDENCE, R.I.—Brown University says it's received a record number of applications for next fall's freshman class.
The Ivy League school says it's received about 31,000 applications for the class of 2015, or 3 percent higher than last year. It expects an incoming class of roughly 1,485 students.
Brown says its applicants come from all 50 states and 139 countries. The school says 67 percent of applicants are seeking financial aid.
Admissions dean James Miller says the applicant pool is filled with "remarkable young people of great promise and ability."
