PROVIDENCE, R.I.—The Rhode Island Department of Transportation is helping Providence improve pedestrian safety on a Federal Hill street following a rash of pedestrian-car accidents, including one involving a city councilor.
A DOT representative is scheduled Tuesday to attend a meeting of the Federal Hill Commerce Association.
State Senator Paul Jabour requested the DOT's help after a number of accidents at Atwells Ave.
Senator Jabour says he believes the DOT could help Providence develop both short-term and long-term solutions to improving pedestrian safety on Federal Hill.
The Federal Hill Commerce Association called an emergency meeting earlier this month, following a hit-and-run accident that injured City Councilman Terrence Hassett.
