PROVIDENCE, R.I.—The Rhode Island Senate will take up several of Republican Gov. Don Carcieri's (kuh-CHEER'-eez) judicial nominations as his time in office draws to a close.
The Senate Judiciary Committee is scheduled to meet Monday and Tuesday to consider nominees for the family court, district court and superior court.
On Thursday, the full Senate will return for a special session to decide whether to approve those nominees who are approved by the committee.
Carcieri's second term ends in January. He will be succeeded by independent Lincoln Chafee.
