RI approves $78M for chemistry, art buildings
PROVIDENCE, R.I. --Voters have given a boost to chemistry studies at the University of Rhode Island and art students at Rhode Island College.
On Tuesday, voters approved ballot Question 2, which authorizes the state to issue $78 million in bonds and notes to fund major projects on both campuses.
At the University of Rhode Island, $61 million will finance the construction of the Center for Chemical and Forensic Sciences.
The other $16 million will go to a renovation and addition at the Art Center at Rhode Island College.
Supporters of the ballot question say it will create 1,200 jobs over the next five years.
