PROVIDENCE, R.I.—Democratic gubernatorial candidate Frank Caprio didn't get President Barack Obama's endorsement, but a former Oval Office occupant is coming to Rhode Island to campaign with him.

The Caprio campaign says former President Bill Clinton will campaign with Caprio on Sunday. It's the second time he's come to the state for Caprio.

In a statement, Caprio called Rhode Island, "Clinton Country."

Campaign spokesman Nick Hemond (HEE'-mond) says details of the event aren't final yet.

Caprio on Monday said Obama could "shove it" after learning he did not receive his endorsement. Obama withheld it out of respect to independent Lincoln Chafee (CHAY'-fee), who endorsed him in 2008.

Caprio endorsed Hillary Rodham Clinton in the Democratic presidential primary that year.
