How crowded? Long line, but very disorganized. The poll workers let everyone stand in the line for one precinct instead of splitting people up and moving us through faster.

Name: Nina
Voted at: Jackson-Mann School
Voted for: Deval Patrick

Name: Saul Firm
Voted at: Jackson Mann
Voted for: Deval Patrick
Most signs were for: Deval Patrick
How crowded? It was a breeze. I like to pretend that Election Day means I can be late for work, so I slept in and voted around 9:30 and it was pretty much empty. My employer hasn't said anything about that yet, but I don't really care if he does.
Presidential choice in '08? Al Sharpton
Other comments: Election Day should be a national holiday, that way more people would vote and appreciate what voting means.

Name: Katherine
Voted at: Jackson Mann School
Voted for: Christy Mihos
Most signs were for: Deval Patrick
How crowded? Very crowded at 9am--I walked past the Taft School to get to my polling place, and they had a large crowd as well. No huge lines though, very well managed. (I was especially impressed with their handling of a disgruntled voter who was giving them a difficult time--very swiftly and maturely handled.)
Presidential choice in '08 Haven't a clue
Other comments: I know this sounds petty, but I'm originally from New York State, where we used lever machines for voting (when I was little, I couldn't wait until I was old enough to pull the levers!) I feel the lever machines are better in terms of privacy and the ability to go back and change a vote before you enter your ballot, although I do recognize that you can accomidate so many more voters at one time with the Scantron system used here.

Amesbury
Name: Allen
Voted at: Town Hall
Voted for: No selection
Most signs were for: No selection
How crowded? ~ 7:30 not empty, short quick lines unless you needed to use one of the two touch screens. 1 was donw the other seemed ot be malfunctioning.
Presidential choice in '08? Jon Daly
Other comments: All poll workers were very professional & friendly and doing their best to be helpful with those needing the Touch Screens. Acording to one poll worker the TouchScreens worked great when initially tested. There were two "technicians" trying to get them working, they were on the cell phone and pulling out manuals (not a good sign).

How crowded? The library was busy, but not a long wait. Congressman Olver was there waiting to cast his vote.
Presidential choice in '08 Al Gore
Other comments: I'm reading this morning all the trouble around the country over electronic voting machines. Since the 2000 election, I've been especially impressed with opscan voting used in my town. Why isn't this the standard? Electronic tallies supported by immutable paper records are the easiest means of voting I've experienced.

Andover
Name: Faye

Voted for: Deval Patrick
Most signs were for: Deval Patrick
How crowded? Not really but I was there early (7:30). Heard there was a long line when they opened at 7:00 though.

How crowded? medium crowd
Presidential choice in '08 no body currently Independant voter
Other comments: Hope Deval Patrick wins - one thing never brought out in the debates ,why didn't the audience get to ask questions to the canidates more, we're the voters. Republicans are getting to party driven ,people want the best leader not just because your from one party . I'm in commercial sales in eastern Mass and have seen alot of business move out of state or close in the last 6 years ,Massachusetts needs new leadership with ideas to bring business back to the Commonwealth .The other question that bother me Healey said she going to lower our taxes ,why in the 5 or more years after we voted to cut income tax didn't they do it during Roomey and Healey ? Just political lies by Healey 1/2 % of $100,000 is only $500 less income tax . My wifes house taxes when up $2000 plus per year in the last six years.

Other comments: The Boston ballots use black markers to fill in the circles. If you notice the marker goes right through the ballots. I question how that affects the voting process. They also give you a "cover" to put your ballot in. If you look at the "cover" it has black marks all over it from voters who previously put their freshly marked ballots in it. I'm always afraid that the black ink residue will taint my ballot so I don't use the "covers"

How crowded? No one was ahead of me when I got there, but by the time I left there were about 20 people in line.
Presidential choice in '08 Barack Obama/Hillary Clinton
Other comments: There weren't too many people with signs where I voted. The campaign run by Healy was appallingly negative and was borderline liabelous. In the years I've been in Massachusetts (all under republican control), crime has risen, property taxes have risen, and most importantly we've lost cornerstones of our business community. It's time for a change. If higher taxes will support better education and police work, I am all for it. Perhaps Patrick will play to our strengths in the business community and open up Massachusetts to biotech and energy companies.

Presidential choice in '08 very undecided...Giuliani ?, McCain ?, Romney ?
Other comments: Sad thing is that this campaign deteriorated into a game of who smiled more and who had the least offensive ads...but it wouldn't be a Governor's race without all that...I'm fairly sure if you polled the citizens on issues alone, blind to candidate, Healey would be the pick...unfortunately, she couldn't fare as an actual living, breathing candidate. As for '08, right-center GOP is where I'm leaning, ESPECIALLY if San Fran Nan is still Madam Speaker at that point...

How crowded? We went early before work, but it was already a little crowded at 7:20. Great turnout, go Deval!
Presidential choice in '08? Barack, Al Gore, or a new Dem with fresh ideas!
Other comments: I agree with Keith in Amherst - the opscan voting, which we also had in Brookline, is definitely the way to go. I'm very frustrated (on behalf of voters in other states) that we are still having problems with machines in key states acRoss the country - it's discouraging would-be voters and marring the election. It shouldn't be this hard to cast a vote!

Other comments: I was probably about 35th or so in line at 7 am that snaked out the gymnasium of the school. Once in the gym, there was about 15 available booths that could not be filled fast enough, despite the line due to the slowness of the check-in people. Hopeless ineffeciency.

Presidential choice in '08 hillary, al gore, Barack Obama
Other comments: I'd like the hopefulness of this campaign to move toward steady repositioning of energies. The legislature has to move on important issues rather than diversionary issues. Move on: Education. Public Safety. Healthcare. Go to the sources and move from there. Enough gridlock and avoidance.

Other comments: I was very disappointed in the campaign ads that Kerry Healey ran against Deval Patrick. You would think that with all of the complaining that people do about the campaigns at the Federal level, that someone locally would have been listening! It would be interesting if the winning candidate took a look at giving Grace Ross a role in their administration; she has some very good ideas.

If they ignore me during the campaign, I have to think that a Gov. Healey would do the same. How can you even consider voting for someone who ignores you DURING THE CAMPAIGN? Deval and his staff were a constant presence, asking what I care about, what issues affect me, asking for my support. What a difference among the candidates.

How crowded? I didn't wait at all. I wish the voting procedure was more private. The election "helper" took a peak at my ballot when he was cramming it into the tally machine, claiming he was "just checking to make sure I voted on each question." Nice fellow, but the helpers need to brush up on voting rules before they break some election laws. I offered to feed my own ballot into the machine after he jammed it, but he didn't take to kindly to that.

Does the Governor have any say in what local town governments decide to charge in taxes - no. Are Patrick and Mihos disingenuous when they suggest otherwise - yes. If Patrick wins, we will, of course, survive... but It looks as if we're probably going to have to relearn the lessons of our past all over again - Socialism is not fair or just. It will hurt those it purports to help and the pendulum will once more swing to the Center.

Other comments: I'll be so glad when I do not receive any more automated phone messages. To all you future candidates: My family will not vote for ANY candidate that calls us with a recorded message. We received many calls from the Healey campaign, one in particular I found very offensive (my three year old picked up the phone and heard a negative ad about a rapist; I was irate!) If you want to contact people, have a human being call. Otherwise, the message you send to voters is this: I want you to listen to me, but I could care less about your response, your concerns, or anything you might want to say. Not a candidate I want in office.

How crowded? Around 8am this morning there was a line from inside that stretched out to the street - approx 15 - 20 people long. Longest line I have ever experienced in the last 8 years of living in MA. Once inside, you had to wait again in a small line for a stall to open up, to be able to fill in your sheet.

How crowded? The parking lot was more crowded than usual, and a lot of people were filling out ballots, but I had no wait time. During the primary, I voted at the same time in the morning and according to the counter on the box, 15 people had voted ahead of me. Today, that number was 56, so it looks like it's a busy day at the polls.

Other comments: It's going to be a sad, sad day once Deval is confirmed as Governor. You can't get any more left than him. More babies will die in abortion clinics and embryonic stem cell labs, illegals will suck the benefits pool dry, families will get poorer from increased tax burdens, children will continue to get warped education in the glorious ways of gay sex, marriage will die out and we'll kill any hopes of population growth in the state by contracepting it away. Kerry Healy surely isn't better, only less evil. Deval, you can still repent and change your ways while you have breath. May God guide our elections today and protect marriage and children. Amen.

Other comments: It would be a mistake to underscore the atrocity of electing Deval Patrick governor. Too many politicians like Patrick use the landscape of politics in the predominatly one-sided face of voters (in this state anyway)and use it as a building block and a platform towards bigger and better things. The Commonwealth can ill-afford to have its' next Governor have his/her eye on the 08' or 12' run. What the State needs is stability, and someone who has the vision of a changed state; not someone like Patrick whose short-sightedness in this campaign will be dwarfed only by his next political move: the Presidency.

Other comments: As an independent I vote according to who I think is the best candidate running at the time of elections. I will say this much, Kerri Healey went too far with her negative campaign. When they went after Deval Patrick's sister's private domestic problem, to me this signified a person with very little redeeming qualities to allow such a private matter to go public with no thought to the hurt it caused the family. Shame on Healy and her campaign manager. As the saying goes; "the guilty are the first to accuse".

Other comments: The one thing that drives me crazy is that young people do not care about our democratic system and choose not to vote. This is not only wrong, but stupid. I have heard time and time again, I dont vote. As far as I am concerned if you dont vote, you have no right to complain. It is your civic duty, just as is jury duty and if you dont vote there should be consequences.

Other comments: I hated voted in this election because I did not like any of the candidates for governor. I normally vote republican, but decided to throw my vote to support the local guy Tim Murray, not because I was enamoured with Deval Patrick. The only signs outside were for Deval Patrick, and vote no on question 1 (which I did). There were no baked goods, I need to find some place that serves baked goods.

Other comments: Our public schools need a lot of help. The current administration has good intent by holding our schools and our teachers accountable for the education of our children but leave them on their own by forcing considerable cuts acRoss our public school system. Despite paying high property taxes, we are still forced to fork over more money in many of our communities to pay for our children to get on the bus and pay their own way for athletics and other activities. Eliminate these ridiculous fees that our current administration has put upon us and give that money to our public schools.

Other comments: I was pretty bothered by the conduct of a volunteer where I voted. A volunteer inside the polling center, innocently enough asked everyone in line, "Does everyone know who they are voting for for Governor?" Then in a clearly audible conversation with a gentleman in the front of the line he said, "You know those Democrats wont show up until at least noon." Coming from an election representative at the polls I found this comment completely out of line. Regardless of which Party the Volunteer referred to, the comment had no place at a polling center.

The poor dont make enough money to pay taxes, so gets who fits the bill - the middle class. There will only be two classes in this state if Devil Patrick wins, the ultra rich and the ultra poor whose living is subsidized by the remaining middle class that doesnt flee this state. Socialism never works. The blame is with all you hacks, remember this.
