DERRY, N.H.—A New Hampshire solider who lost his lower leg in Afghanistan this summer is coming home this weekend.

Army Spc. Dave Taylor of Derry spent the past seven months in surgeries and rehabilitation.

WMUR-TV reports (http://bit.ly/vcfB3F) Taylor was serving in Afghanistan with the 10th Mountain Division. A device exploded under his legs in June. He lost his left leg below the knee.

Last summer, the community raised money to pay for Taylor's hospital bills and airfare so his mother, Kim Porter, could be at his side when he had surgery in Washington, D.C.

The Derry Fire Department, veterans groups and the Patriot Guards will welcome Taylor at the airport in Manchester on Saturday.
