MANCHESTER, N.H.—New Hampshire Gov. John Lynch is awarding 54 fallen soldiers the state's first medals of honor.
Lynch will be joined Saturday by Adjutant General William Reddel in honoring the soldiers and their families. The medal was created by a law Lynch signed in 2007. The law calls for the medals to be awarded to any New Hampshire citizen who has given his or her life in the line of duty while serving the country after Nov. 4, 1979.
The medal was designed by local artist Andre Belanger.
