RICHMOND, Vt.—Vermont State Police say a 49-year-old woman is facing charges of texting while driving and driving under the influence following a crash on Interstate 89 in Richmond.
Police say Matilda Stacey of Claremont, N.H., was headed north Tuesday afternoon when the car she was driving went off the road and hit guardrails and then trees.
She was not hurt.
Police say that Stacey was allegedly consuming alcohol while driving and texting while driving.
While the cause of the crash is still under investigation, police say inattention was a contributing factor.
Stacey was cited into court to face the charges.
