LINCOLN, N.H. --Human remains found yesterday at a campsite in the White Mountain National Forest are believed to be those of a Derry man who disappeared in September.
Officials said the skeletal remains were discovered by a search dog after a park ranger noticed the campsite in a remote area off the Cedar Brook Trail, about 6 miles from Route 112. They do not suspect foul play. Authorities said they believe the remains are those of Brian Smith, 47. He was believed to have gone hiking in the area about a year ago.
