Residents of Brentwood, NH, have gathered for a third day to mourn the local police officer who was killed while responding to a domestic dispute at a home last week.
Officer Stephen Arkell, 48, was shot and killed by Michael Nolan, who lived in the home, when he entered the home. Nolan then set several fires and was killed when the fires led to an explosion. His father, Walter Nolan, was also in the home but escaped unharmed.
A public visitation for Arkell is scheduled today at the Stockbridge Funeral Home in Exeter from 10 a.m. through 4 p.m.
Arkell became an officer with the Brentwood Police Department in 1999 and was also the animal control officer in the town, according to his obituary written on funeral home’s website.
