Making room for development
With the completion of the Walter J. Hannon Parkway, construction could begin as soon as 2013. Buildings and part of parking structure were raised to work on the Walter J, Hannon Parkway.
Most of the demolition needed to begin construction will occur on either side of the Hancock Street with the western side requiring the most demolition.
Besides the removal of the city-owned Ross Parking Garage, a considerable number of surrounding structures need to be raised.
The planned use for the vacated space on the western side of Hancock Street includes significant street-level retail, parking, and office and residential space.
Reactions are mixed among tenants that do business in a building near Parking Way Street. At some point these tenants must relocate since that building is slated to be demolished.
