Passengers' reactions to MBTA fare increases

State transportation officials announced Tuesday that they expect to approve Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority fare increases in the spring. With the MBTA’s financial woes mounting, the fares would take effect July 1, 2012. Subway, bus, and commuter rail fares last rose Jan. 1, 2007. We asked passengers at the JFK/UMass station on Wednesday afternoon about their reaction to the news.
