In mid-May, Dave Estrada and Spaulding research scientist Andrew Taylor climbed in a two-man boat and rowed together on the Charles River. After a year of indoor rowing in Taylor's lab, Estrada didn't know how to row on water. Either did Taylor. "If I'm going to prescribe this exercise to other people, I better be willing to do it myself," said Taylor. Before pushing off the dock , Estrada and Taylor got a quick lesson in "feathering" their oars from two former Olympic rowers.
