1 convicted in slaying of Lowell brothers
LOWELL, Mass.—A Lowell man has been convicted of killing two brothers during a home invasion more than two years ago.
Ariel Hernandez was found guilty Monday in Lowell Superior Court of charges including first-degree murder for fatally shooting Luis and Hector Delgado in October 2009. A sentencing date has not been scheduled but first-degree murder carries a mandatory sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole.
Prosecutors say the 24-year-old Hernandez was one of five men involved in the botched home invasion, but he was the one who pulled the trigger.
Two of his codefendants were acquitted of charges including first-degree murder. Two others are awaiting trial on murder charges.
